Hi, I’m Jason Slone, PhD, CCFC
“Have fun, make money, and leave the world a better place.” - Jimmy Buffett
About Me
I’m a fiduciary Financial Advisor (and Professor, and Parrothead, and musician, and Dad and Husband…) who helps successful retirees and near-retirees (45+) with all areas of their financial lives:
Cash flow/debt management
College planning
Retirement income planning
Investment management
Tax planning
Insurance and risk management
Estate/legacy planning
Charitable giving
My goal is to help you stop stressing about money and enjoy life.
Do you want to…
Retire early?
Send your kids to their dream college?
Travel the world?
Move closer to the grandkids?
Buy a boat?
Start a business or charity?
Whatever your goals are, I’ll help you put together a financial plan to make it happen.
I’ve walked the walk.
My wife and I always dreamed of living the “salt life” near the ocean.
So we figured out how to do it financially, and made our plan.
We:
Sent our kids to affordable colleges (which they love)
Bought a modest house with a small pool in Savannah, GA
Joined the Freedom Boat Club (no more cleaning or maintenance - woohoo!)
Teach college classes
Sing and play music
Work on boats on the weekends and in the summer.
Are active in the Savannah Parrot Head Club, a fun charity that “parties with a purpose”
We had a dream and a vision for our life and we made it happen.
You can, too.
You just need a plan — and a helpful, supportive, thinking partner as your guide.
My Values
Education + Advice
ELI5: “Explain it like I’m 5.” I have the heart of a teacher and 20+ years of classroom experience. So I’m good at explaining complicated stuff with simple language so you know how everything works and the “why” behind my advice. I will never tell you what to do (it’s your life and money) or pressure you into buying any products (I don’t sell any). I will give you education and advice so you can have confidence and peace of mind that you’re making the right decisions for your family.
Joy not Judgement
Going to see a Financial Advisor can feel like going to the Doctor: stressful. It shouldn’t be. So I work hard to make sure it isn’t. I won’t judge you for your circumstances, fears, choices, or income and net worth. I grew up in poverty and had to learn how to be better with money, so I have deep empathy for families who are just trying to make it in a complicated and expensive world (see: college tuition). I also try to make working together fun. I like to joke around. I’ll take you fishing anytime you’re in Savannah. And I’m fully committed to helping you find and fund your favorite hobbies and activities. Money should be a source of joy, not stress. I want you to look forward to seeing me, not dread it. I’m here to help, not judge.
Independence + Expertise
I chose Fiduciary Financial Advisors as my professional home because I believe in giving independent advice tailored to your situation (again, I don’t sell any products). I also chose Fiduciary because I like having a collaborative team of experts in a wide range of areas to help my clients. If you have a complex situation that involves an advanced or unusual problem, I have numerous experts to go to for help. I’m our team’s college planning expert, but we also have expertise in advanced tax issues, divorce situations, business ownership, values/faith-based investing, and more. You can feel comfortable knowing you’re getting independent advice and have a large team of experts behind you.
If this sounds like something you’d like, then reach out and let’s talk.
